UCRA 4 2026

Fourth International Conference on Unconventional Catalysis, Reactors and Applications (UCRA) UCRA4 in Mariehamn, Åland Islands, June 24-26, 2026

During the very successful UCRA3 in Warsow in autumn 2024 it was decided that the next conference, UCRA4 will take place in Finland. After having made an extensive screening of potential sites for UCRA, I have come to the conclusion that the very picturesque city Mariehamn on Åland islands would be a lovely place for UCRA4.

Åland is an autonomous region of Finland, with an own parliament and government. It is one of the richest parts of our country and has a very beautiful nature and many cultural monuments, such as the old Kastelholm castle and Bomarsund fortress. The capital of Åland, Mariehamn is a very vivid city with an active daily life and nightlife, particularly during the summer season. Because of the extensive tourism and many business meetings, the hotel capacity is large in Mariehamn.

UCRA4 will take place in the conference and cultural center Alandica in the downtown of Mariehamn, the capital of Åland Islands. The facilities of Alandica are excellent (a big auditorium and several meeting rooms), so we can easily have 2-3 parallel sessions going on simultaneously. Lunches and coffee breaks will be organized in the conference center, so the conference days become very convenient and efficient.

Mariehamn is easily accessible by flights from Stockholm (0.5h), Turku/Åbo (0.5h), Helsinki (1h). Very big and luxury ferryboats travel on the route Turku-Mariehamn and Stockholm-Mariehamn every day (the tickets are about 70 euro). The early summer in the archipelago is beautiful, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and the Nordic night is short.

The Abstract submission will open in September 2025 and close in January 2026.
